i just finished this fairly large mosaic. I'm still pondering what grout to use.
This eagle was created using the photo on the right, given to me by my friend and neighbor, Karen.

He sold 2 days after I finished him and is on his way to Thailand.  I'm very proud of this one. We recently went on a tour of Anheuser-Busch here in St. Louis. We got to get up close to a Clydesdale, which was thrilling. I photographed this wonderful creature named Rock On. Then went home, and 100 hours later...voila! A mosaic of him. I tried to recreate the stables behind him.
Here are one of my more recent mosaics. (I'm terrible at updating this blog!)  I called this one Summer and Autumn. I contacted an Instagram friend in Finland to get permission to mosaic one of her photos. She agreed, then wanted to purchase it. I gifted it to her. Since then, I've recreated it 2 more times. I love the feeling of the autumn leaf and bright white flower.
I know...it's April, almost May. I'm going to be more present on this blog. So....we've moved from Texas to St. Louis, and...we're moving again, but only across the street. The Best part is we're building a studio at the back of the house! So Exciting! I've, of course, been making mosaics. My current one is called Barcelona, from a photo I took on La Rombla. Pretty excited about this one. Next step is the sidewalk, which will be glass pounded to a pulp.  Here are a few of my newer mosaics. I just finished Longhorn, he's in a large barn wood frame and I am thinking of adding homemade barbed wire across the middle. I took a photo of this handsome guy outside of Lawrence, Kansas on a bike ride. Giraffe was fun, he's whimsical and I love him. He was exhibited in a juried show in Chesterfield, Missouri. The Black and White Iris was also in a juried show, the art had to be black and white. This piece sold. Kitty in the Window is one of my favorites. He's inspired by a photo of our own cat who loved to sit in the window. |
